ABOUT ME
Compassionate, weight-neutral nutrition counseling for eating disorder recovery, disordered eating, and repairing your relationship with food — covered by insurance, from someone who truly gets it.
I'M ALEXA NICHOLS, MS, RD, CDN
I’m a Registered Dietitian in the NYC area, here to help you find freedom, balance, and confidence with food.
If you want to repair your relationship with food and build the tools and habits you’ll need to thrive, I’d love to work with you.
When I was a teenager, I had an unhealthy relationship with food. But when I started meeting with a dietitian, my world changed. The intuitive eating approach I learned showed me that food could be nourishing, fun, and part of our best memories.
I went to the University of Delaware where I received a BS in Dietetics and MS in Human Nutrition. Before being certified as an RD and a CDN by the State of New York, I completed the dietetic internship program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, gaining clinical experience in eating disorders, cardiology, oncology, diabetes, and more.
For the past five years, I was the Lead Associate Dietitian at Nourishing NY, one of New York City's most respected eating disorder and nutrition counseling practices. Now, I’m seeing patients through my own practice.
I’m able to see telehealth patients located in AZ, CA, CO, CT, NJ, NY and VA. Book a free discovery call to learn more about working with me!
HOW I WORK
As a practitioner, I take an individual, weight-neutral approach rooted in intuitive eating. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, celebrating small wins along the way—because this work is hard, but meaningful.
Together, we’ll challenge food rules, explore fear foods, and build sustainable habits that truly fit your life. My mission is to support you in reconnecting with yourself, your body, and your relationship with food.
My practice is rooted in:
01 Intuitive Eating
Reconnecting with your body's natural hunger and fullness cues
02 Health at Every Size (HAES)
A weight-neutral lens that decouples health from body size
03 Individualized, client-centered care
Meeting you exactly where you are, without judgment
04 Non-diet approach
Actively working against diet culture and the food rules it leaves behind
I currently offer only telehealth sessions, but I’ll be offering in-person soon!

I support individuals experiencing anorexia and food restriction, bulimia, binge eating disorder, OSFED, chronic dieting, disordered eating, and difficult relationships with food and body image. I also work with individuals who are exploring intuitive eating or recovering from years of dieting and food rules.

Weight-neutral care means we focus on your overall well-being rather than defining health by a number on the scale. I aim to provide compassionate nutrition support without shame, judgment, or pressure. Intuitive eating is non-diet approach that teaches you to trust your body’s natural hunger and fullness cues. It rejects rigid food rules and guilt, encouraging you to eat what satisfies you and make peace with food.

No. Many clients I work with do not have a formal diagnosis. You deserve support if food, eating, exercise, or body image is negatively impacting your daily life — regardless of whether your experiences feel “serious enough.”
